We haven’t really talked about what has happened to us/me in the blog and there are probably a load of reasons that I should write more and a load that I shouldn’t. I did feel though that the latest visit to see Jennifer (my doctor) needed to be mentioned.
While we have been aware that the drugs I am taking are obviously having an effect on me there is really no way of knowing if the lesions are shrinking inside my brain. We have been pretty convinced that they haven’t been growing mostly due to the fact that I have been doing a lot more and certainly haven’t been having any headaches.
It’s probably very difficult to assess my progress when day to day there seems to be so little change and while I enjoy the periods where I am “riding the wave of a high” I certainly don’t enjoy the lows that unfortunately seem to follow and leave me absolutely exhausted. So my MRI on Nov 4th has been a date we have both been looking forward to for almost the whole trip.
When Jennifer told me the results I think I almost cried with relief!! I still have over 15 lesions but only 2 big ones (11mm each) this is down from 5 big ones the biggest being 28mm. She was happy with how I was going and I have to admit a huge weight was taken off of my shoulders I almost couldn’t believe it.
Jennifer told me I was “out of the woods” which is a hell of a lot better that the “we were very worried about you” phrases we had been getting 10 months earlier.
My medication will be halved on Dec 21 and I couldn’t be more excited to hopefully have more energy and continue with the recovery.
So I won’t say too much only that I am incredibly lucky to have such a support team around me to get me through. Primarily Sarah who I don’t think I could ever say how much I thank her and love her for how she has supported me. Most people don’t know how she put up with me before all this started let alone now!!!
Family and friends have also been incredibly supportive through the whole experience and certainly couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help.
Oh and I am allowed to have a couple of drinks now…watch out!!!😉😘
