On our way towards Tamworth we stopped at Uralla just 20km down the road as we had read that we could camp on the local golf course there and when we arrived we found that there were indeed four campsites all empty right by the 18th hole.
We decided to stay the night and enjoy a round of golf and a look around the small town.
Having only travelled for about 20 mins we still had most of the afternoon free and while it was hot we went for a bit of a look at the town. Unfortunately it was a Monday and just about everything was shut. Still we walked up and down the high street and the facades of the buildings were once again great to have a look at. The Brewery wasn’t open but we managed to buy a couple of their beers from the supermarket to enjoy after the golf and also decided to come back the next day and have a look at a little museum.
I have no idea where the tourists would all come from to frequent a small place like this but the towns people clearly have made a big effort to make it enticing and we both were very pleasantly surprised by Uralla.
Back we went to camp where we got to enjoy a great 9 holes of golf. The course was in pretty good nick and the huge old trees lining the fairways made us feel like we were somewhere a little special. The match was all the better as we drew and so we’re both able to enjoy our beers back at the camper on the 18th green.
The weather forecast changed the next day and Sarah had been bitten/stung by something which had caused her ankle to swell up. Our plan had been to go to another small town and go mountain biking but that didn’t look as though it was going to be possible so we headed straight to Tamworth. T
