The day started brightly all sunshine and no rain and the day ahead of us was mostly gentle downhill with one steep section. The hardest part was that it was another 20km plus day and while we were getting used to the long days they do start taking their toll.
We were still fresh from our days off in Bled and began our hike at about 1250m altitude through some unusual bogs which apparently are quite rare at this altitude and while not the most beautiful things to look at they were quite interesting.
Exiting the bogs we began our gradual descent through some beautiful alpine meadows with the forests and mountain tops behind, it really was a very enjoyable section. So enjoyable in fact that we both forgot to pay any attention at a crossroads and ended up wandering down completely the wrong path! So distracted were we that we didn’t realise for a kilometre and then had to turn around and head back. We learnt our lesson as it turned a 22km day into a 24!

We only had one fairly tough stretch of downhill and just before it began there was a side track leading to a hilltop. Luckily we decided to take it as when we scrambled to the top we were rewarded with some fantastic views down over lake Bohinj and the village of Stara Fuzina that was our days destination. There was a bench with our name on it perfectly positioned for us to have a cup of tea and a handful of nuts while enjoying the scenery. We were also able to see our routes for the next couple of days which is always nice to be able to do.

Refreshed we headed straight down the side of the mountain before we flattened out for the last 6km walk to our stop for the next 2 nights. Once again it was through some really very pretty villages and well maintained farms but while enjoyable we were both feeling a little tired by the time we reached our guest house. We must have looked tired because the lovely lady who owned the guesthouse showed us to our room and then returned 2 minutes later with a couple of cold beers for us to enjoy on the balcony!!! 5 star review for this place I reckon!!
