The one thing DC does better than NY was their Underground train system. The Metro train stations were actually really pretty and easy to get around. We then caught the train to Baltimore to catch the plane to Chicago. Only to be told when we got there that they had overbooked and if we would possibly consider catching a plane from DC instead with a free transfer back and $200 each for compensation. Considering the flights cost us $100 each we jumped at the chance. Winning!! S
