Japan 2019

We thought we would add in a few of our bigger trips that we have done over the last few years. One of these was Snowboarding in Japan. We spent a few days in Tokyo which we just absolutely loved and Japan will be on our bucket list of countries to explore in the future. But this time around we were here for the snow with 10 days boarding in Hakuba.

We had amazing snow for about 7 of those days. We got to experience Japanese powder amongst the trees almost every one of those days which was epic. The snow was so dry it built up on the trees and turned it into a winter wonderland.

The food was also a major stand out. Normally we pack our lunches to have up the mountain on our snow trips, especially in America as the food is expensive and not great, however in Japan it was amazing AND reasonably priced.

Unfortunately after the epic 7 days we had a massive downpour of rain that was not ideal but you can’t have perfect conditions everyday. Another downside for us was the fact that Hakuba is made up of a number of little ski resorts they you get to via a bus. Unfortunately the bus doesn’t leave before first lifts so Tim’s obsession of getting first lifts everyday was ruined. Also the buses were not constant so you had to pick a resort and stick to it the whole day. Minor inconveniences but next time we will hire a car.

Although we loved our boarding holiday in Japan and loved the convenience of it being so much closer than Europe and America our favourite snow destination is still America. Though like we said prior, Japan is definitely getting another visit in the future for some more adventures throughout the country.
