This trip has always had one destination and date we had to make and that was my Dad’s 80th Birthday. All of the family where making the trip, minus my sister Fiona who lives in Switzerland. Unfortunately on the way up the coast it became pretty evident that my two brothers in Victoria were not going to make it due to lock down and then the situation got worse as south east Queensland also went into lock down. So 7 siblings that could make the party soon turned into 3.
But we made it home just before Dad’s birthday and although the party was cancelled it was nice to be there on his birthday. We still managed a very small get together on the weekend with the family who could attend and it was lovely.
Tim spent a lot of his time tinkering with the batteries as we had serious issues but he managed to work through those and we soon were back to full capacity!
Griff had a great time though was not super impressed he could not come inside the house. But we made sure he was pretty knackered with lots of farm walks which included meeting Headlander, the race horse who is taking 6 months off racing.

We also got a little sick, I freaked out thinking that we had COVID, got a test and then waited for the negative results. I think Mum and Dad thought I was crazy but better to be safe than sorry. 😂
Otherwise it was just lovely spending a week with Mum and Dad as we don’t usually get that much time with them and Dad and I managed to keep our arguments to one hand. Old habits die hard. 😂 We have convinced them to dust off their camper van and meet us in Charters Towers for a few days in the future. Watch this space! S

More horsey pics. He was such a softy.
Amazing sunsets

Dad’s famous veggie patch. Could feed a whole town with the amount he grows!
Watering the cane. This was taken on our first day. After 7 days it was nearly a foot high!
Cane flowers.
What amazing photos here. We are very envious.
Fascinating to read all this Tim and Sarah. Great to see you’re off on another excellent adventure and look forward to following your progress!
