It was time to continue our journey south and we entered the Riverina area of NSW an area rich in agriculture. The scenery was pretty beautiful and the variety of crops being grown and paddocks made for an almost patchwork appearance to the countryside. I had heard it was a pretty beautiful part of Australia and we certainly weren’t disappointed.

Cootamundra is a small town of about 7000 people and is most famous for being the birthplace of Sir Donald Bradman and we certainly weren’t going to miss out on visiting such a culturally important site!!! It turns out that while he was born in the town he and his family actually left when he was 2 but the town has purchased the building in which he was born and turned it into a small museum with some memorabilia. It wasn’t a huge museum but was worth a look.

The town of Cootamundra while small was very tidy and had a lovely Main Street with some pretty interesting looking buildings. In fact that has been a theme running through the NSW towns as we have travelled south where the 100 year old buildings have been well maintained or restored and the towns have mostly been pretty tidy and well looked after.

There was plenty for us to do and we went for a lovely walk up to a ridge to enjoy views of the town. It was great walking through the pine trees before the scenery opened up and we were walking through grassland looking at the countryside around us.

We also got pretty excited about the mountain bike track there too which was very well maintained by a group of volunteers. We had an absolute blast riding it on our first day and while exhausted we were very keen to get back and do it again. It was one of the best tracks we had done and while there were plenty of climbs the flowing downhill runs had us both grinning from ear to ear.

Unfortunately we didn’t get back to the mountain bike track (or country NSW’s oldest golf course) as I had a little bit of a down. Nothing to worry about I just think that I had enjoyed the feeling of my lower levels of medication so much that I had maybe pushed my body a little hard and starting feeling pretty exhausted, short of breath and getting pains up my arm again which was a bit upsetting to say the least. In these times a Covid test is obviously the first step and after getting the all clear on that we decided that a bit of rest was in order. My next blood test was due so we rested for a couple of days before heading off to Tumut. T
