We arrived at Boulia both with horrible colds and were desperate for a few days of rest. Luckily for us Boulia’s caravan park was a lovely grassed campground right on the river. We spent the next 4 days recuperating.
On our last day we headed to the Min Min light encounter which was pretty much the only attraction in town. As a kid, stories used to be told about Min Min lights which appear to people on the road and that if you see one you should never follow it. I had not thought of them for so long until we arrived here and turns out they are a phenomenon that people talk about seeing out here. Lights appearing to stockman on the horizon or truck drivers at night which never get any closer. There has never been an explanation for them and there is still speculation as to if they are real but the Min Min light experience at Boulia told some of the old bush stories about them. The actual display was brilliantly done with moving, talking puppets, light show and fantastic stages. It was one of the best country museums/attractions we had been too!
We didn’t do much else but Boulia was exactly what these two road weary travellers were after. A quiet place to rest. S
