After a lovely nights sleep we left camp at Fringe Lily in a low hanging fog and started the first climb to Razor Back Ridge. Just as we were nearing the top the clouds cleared and we were offered beautiful views of the valley we climbed down yesterday. Looking ahead we were greeted with spectacular views of Razorback Ridge. Not only does it look like a bit of a razor back but the rocks underfoot are thin and sharp and it is a notorious stretch of the hike for destroying people’s shoes.

After a brief flat stretch we started to climb up Razozback Ridge and this time we had sections where we were using our hands to assist and the drop offs to the side were quite something. But it was definitely worth it as the views were spectacular at the top.

We then hit Rocky saddle and I can honestly say that we both struggled a little with this section. It was really disjointed and uneven with lots of big boulders and steps down and it wasn’t really that pretty either. Once we finished that section we were rewarded with Spensors Gorge. Like all the other gorges it was as if a giant had had a tantrum. But this one was twice as long with some tough decents and in our opinion not as spectacular. Needless to say we were a little over it by the end when we saw the walls widen out of the gorge.

After the gorge we had a few kms of track before we came across our campsite at 4/5 Junction. Nobody was around so we got the pick of the campsites and ended up in the creek bed a few hundred metres from the actual campsite. After the set up process which consists of tent set up, water refilling and sorting gear we finally sat down to nice cup of tea. I have to admit I was done in. By far the most challenging of sections we have done and it was only 8kms long but took us 4 and a half hours.

Our energy levels have just started to take a little dip over the last day or two. Both of us have lost quite a bit of weight and it is a struggle to try and get the calories into us to keep us energised. It doesn’t help that I am well and truely over Radix dinners and even though I know I need to eat I have no appetite for more mush. But I am forcing them down my throat and very much looking forward to some normal food.
After our cup of tea and a bit of a relax we went for a short walk to birthday waterhole which is actually where section 4 starts. It is as the name suggests a waterhole which was lovely but the view was a little ruined by the fact that you can drive there and it is used as a bit of a 4×4 track.

It felt a bit weird after having walked for so long and also walked there to be greeted by a group in their utes. But it was a nice easy walk from camp and good to stretch the legs. S
