So we had a little scare on the way out of Miami, American Airlines were convinced that I needed a visa! Luckily a quick google and we realized the guys at the desk were wrong but they did get us a little worried as they thought we didn’t have enough paperwork to get in!! WeContinue reading “On our way to Rio de Janeiro “

A tour of Rio
Although our Portuguese was coming on in leaps and bounds, we have learnt thank you, please and hello (we think?!) we decided that it might be easiest to take a guided tour of the city, especially as Rio is actually very spread out along the coastline and up into the hills. Our tour was fantastic,Continue reading “A tour of Rio”
Favelas
We went for a tour of one of the favelas this morning. There are many favelas (communities) in Rio but The one we went into was Rocinha which is the largest of the favelas in Rio and second largest in Latin America with 200,000 people living there in an area we would estimate to beContinue reading “Favelas”
When my baby smiles at me I go to Rio!
A few shots from Copacabana while were there. We have seen better beaches but it was still fun to sit back and watch the world go by. At night there are lots of little market stalls along the boardwalk. The beach seems to be more about people watching and sunbathing rather than swimming. Like AustraliaContinue reading “When my baby smiles at me I go to Rio!”
Some tasty Brazilian
Breakfast Brazilian style, there at loads of these street side cafes and bars where you just stand on the street enjoying anything from coffee, smoothies and breakfast to beers in the evening (or morning as we have noticed) A pretty common cheaper option we have noticed recently, battered fish with a cocktail sauce.Continue reading “Some tasty Brazilian”
1st Bus trip, Buzios
Rio de Janeiro was a city we could have spent quite some time in but unfortunately we had to leave and carry on with the adventure. Back to Rio
As we had been told not to trust the scheduled departures and arrivals of the busses in South America we decided to split our two bus trips over two days and stay an extra night in Rio. Sad as it was to be leaving Buzios we were also very excited to be returning to RioContinue reading “Back to Rio”
24 Hours on a Bus
Well actually the title is a bit of an exaggeration it was only 23 hours. But actually it really wasn’t that bad, when we got on the bus in Rio is was nice to escape the 40 degree heat and get into the air conditioning and then equally as nice to discover that the seatsContinue reading “24 Hours on a Bus”
Deep in The Pantenal
Our first day in Pantanal consisted of a transfer from Campo Grande with our own private car driven by the wonderful Sandro. It was a 4 hour trip but with Sandro the time flew as he was pretty much a tour guide as well. On the trip in, we managed to see 3 makaws, aContinue reading “Deep in The Pantenal”
Pretty Bonito
We had got a tip from a really helpful guy in Rio that we should definitely visit Bonito when we were out in the Pantenal. So we did. Bonito itself is a nice small town seemingly in the middle of nowhere but with loads of activities to enjoy in the surrounding areas. Sandro ourContinue reading “Pretty Bonito”
