It was our first day in America today! Flew into LAX and then went straight down to Venice Beach where we will be staying for the next few days. Our hotel is perfectly placed right on the beach. We have managed to keep jet lag at bay by walking from Venice Beach into Santa Monica.Continue reading “1st day in America”

Cheesy open top bus tour of LA
Lazy sightseeing, sitting on our behinds and getting driven all around LA! Very interesting to see all the different areas, and the stark contrasts between the haves and the have nots.T Santa Monica pier, a nice view while we munched on $2 bagels for breakfast. The Hollywood walk of fame. Must admit that this wasContinue reading “Cheesy open top bus tour of LA”
New York New York (how original)
We flew from LA into New York yesterday and so far the city has not disappointed! After dumping our bags in our hotel near Union Square we headed out for a bite to eat and a few beers and almost immediately stumbled across some amazing bars! We had some amazing cocktails made by a noContinue reading “New York New York (how original)”
Sightseeing in Manhattan
An awe inspiring day walking around Manhattan. We crossed the Brooklyn Bridge, took a ferry to Staten Island, visited ground zero and saw a whole host of other sights! Don’t worry though we haven’t posted all the photos! It has been great walking between the hugely impressive skyscrapers and then two minutes later ending upContinue reading “Sightseeing in Manhattan”
A Stroll Around Central Park
Spent some time relaxing and going for a walk around Central Park, thought we were going to just sit and have lunch, but it was actually so nice we decided to walk all the way around! It’s amazing how huge it is and how far away from the hustle and bustle of New YorkContinue reading “A Stroll Around Central Park”
Let’s All Go To The Ball Game!
A visit to the Bronx and Yankee Stadium, pretty scary subway ride for the last couple of stops as a huge guy called out, “All you Yankee fans, just remember you are visitors in the Bronx so make sure you show some respect!” But I have a feeling he was just messing around asContinue reading “Let’s All Go To The Ball Game!”
Concrete Jungle
Today we visited the Guggenheim. The building alone is worth the visit and the way the artworks curl around the spiral ramp makes it very different from other museums I have been to. As with the MOMA there were some truly memorable artworks and others that maybe I am not educated enough to understand. ThereContinue reading “Concrete Jungle”
Washington DC
Another walk around for us, but this time the temp was topping 38degrees!!! So more of a slow amble! Washington DC is a very stately city (Almost bland city centre) and very different from New York. It all seems very imposing. T The Front and back doors of the White House A coupleContinue reading “Washington DC”
Georgetown, Washington DC
Another sweltering day in Washington! So we decided to spend the morning hitting the Smithsonian National Museum of American History as we both needed a little brushing up on our history facts. Afterwards we sneakily caught the final few holes of the British Open golf and then we were off to Georgetown. Which seemed toContinue reading “Georgetown, Washington DC”
Last day at Washington
The one thing DC does better than NY was their Underground train system. The Metro train stations were actually really pretty and easy to get around. We then caught the train to Baltimore to catch the plane to Chicago. Only to be told when we got there that they had overbooked and if we wouldContinue reading “Last day at Washington”
